30th January, 1782.

Dear Sir:

I wrote you by Sergt. Dunnen respecting a supply of 150 arms & Cartridge boxes for that number of men at Wilmington under the Commd. of Maj. McRee. Should you have had no Accts. of 1,900 stand ordered by Congress for the Continental Troops of this State I wish a loan may be made of more received at Richmond for the use of the State. As the Governor is not in Halifax, I have signified to the Honorable Willie Jones if he approve of the Loan to recommend to you that they may be immediately, and without delay, transported to Wilmington to Major McRee; but should it be thought otherwise, and that a loan cannot be effected, I wish you to signify by this Express to Major McRee of its being impracticable to procure any arms of the State by Loan or otherwise just now, and that the Arms for the Continental Troops of this State were not arrived as we know of, but should they
