Halifax, February 12th, 1782.

Sir:

When I had the honour of being appointed to command a Regiment of Militia in the Service of this State, the General Assembly ordered a Horse for me. I was so unfortunate as to lose one of my Horses in the Service. I have at present in my possession the horse which I received in consequence of the order. He is of nearly the same value as the horse I lost. I shall be much obliged to
