Letter from Thomas Burke to Thomas Hogg
Burke, Thomas, ca. 1747-1783
March 23, 1782
Volume 16, Page 557

Halifax, March 23rd, 1782.

Dear Sir:

I learn from many accounts that Fanning and his party are very troublesome. If the Troops are not yet advanced I request you to Order them on as Soon as possible. I am unwilling to send anything to Hillsboro until you are that far advanced at least. I wish to hear from you, and therefore I beg you to send an Express to me with the State you find the Troops in and the prospects you find of their Utility. I perceive you will have Occasions for some active Exertions, and you must be furnished with Horses for that purpose. I am taking measures for that purpose.

I am, with Esteem,
Your very Obedt. Servt.,
Major Hogg.
