Dear Sir:
As it will be necessary to render the General Assembly perfectly secure during their sitting, I request that you will Order two hundred Men from your District to Assemble at Hillsborough as soon as possible. You will be so good as to take particular Care that they be well Armed and equipped and that a Sufficient Supply of Ammunition be provided for them. Inclosed is an order to the Quarter Master General to furnish you with such Arms and Ammunitions as you shall require, of which I doubt not you will be particularly careful.
I also request that you will provide Patrols of good horse to be
employed to watch the roads leading from Haw River. These precautions will be necessary, notwithstanding the Operations, we are to carry on against the disaffected.
Pray Collect as many Swords as you can.
