Dear Sir:
I have before me your favour of the 2d. The arms I have in hand are only 300, part of 1000 Stand allotted for the use of the Militia of this State, & there still remain 500 Stand in Virginia for want of Waggons to convey them; unless they be lately sent for by Col. Long.
These in my care I don’t think myself warranted to deliver but for State services.
You mention the waggoning of arms from New London, in possession of a Capt. Irish. I hope to be excused if, out of zeal for the service, I take the liberty to mention that this must be some geographical mistake; as the arms I received came from Nath. Irish, D. C. G. M. Stores S. D. His letter is dated at Manchester, which
is near Richmond, in Virginia, & New London is in Connecticut, one of the Eastern New England States.
