RICHARD HUTSON TO GOV. THOMAS BURKE.

Ponpon, August 16th, 1782.

My Dear Sir:

I Sincerely thank you for your polite Letter received some time ago, and your obliging tender of your assistance in recovering any part of the Property of that Martyr to Liberty & his Country, Colo. Isaac Hayne, which may be found within the limits of your State. The Fellow Foe, who is in the Custody of the Sheriff of Orange County, belongs to the Ara Furnace, which was a joint concern of Colo. William Hill and my deceased Friend. When Colo. Hill sends for him, I should esteem it a particular favor, if you would cause him to be delivered to his order. Any reasonable charges will be paid by the Concern. It is now reduced to a Certainty that the British mean to evacuate Charlestown. The only difference of

opinion that exists is relative to the Time. Some say from the 1st to the 15th September, Others fix the first week of October. But the far greater number, among whom is General Greene, are of opinion it will take place in the course of three weeks. I should be exceedingly happy in a correspondence with you.

I am with sincere Esteem Sir,
Your very humble servant,
RICHD. HUTSON.
