Halifax, 22nd Nov. 1782.

Dear Genl.:

I came to this place to-day on my way to Hillsborough, but was informed the Assembly did not meet so shall return home.

I never gave my opinion respecting the arrangement to Major Hogg, as you requested, as I expected to see you at the Assembly. It will suit me to retire agreeable to the resolve of Congress, having a family that cannot do well without my presence. My Circum

stances you are not unacquainted with, so shall be very glad to retire when the arrangement takes place.

I heard the day before I left home the vessell that had your Tobacco in, was arrived. I will let you know as soon as she comes up the river.

If you have more Tobacco that you want to ship there is frequent opportunities now.
