Sir:

I have had the pleasure of receiving your Letters of the 1st and 3rd ultimo. I am sorry that there has been a mistake in the exchange of Bryant as it was expected he might have relieved a number of our Captive Militia by composition. I have not heard of the exchange of Hampton and White. Some more of the Tories who are thought proper for exchange are gone on from General Butler of this State to your Camp, a return of their names will be made you from the officer having them in charge.

I have given directions as to the routes and supplies of the Troops now embodying; but as Colonel Carrington’s instructions seem to clash with an Act of Assembly of this State for granting supplies, his Agent here, will take that business wholly on himself unless he receives our State supplies in the usual way, in the mean while every thing in my power shall be done for the support of the army.

There is a great dearth of news among us at present, if there is anything of importance please to communicate the same to him,
