Hillsborough, August 31st, 1782.

Sir:

Inclosed you have a list of certain Officers and Soldiers prisoners of War, of the late Governor Martin’s Regiment of Royal Militia, sent to be exchanged for the Militia of this State now in captivity, or for such others of the Americans as you may think proper (having respect first to the prisoners of this State). You will be so obliging to obtain General Greene’s permission to negotiate this business.
