Gentlemen:
Whereas I have received information that the Estate of the late William Redge of your County (who was one of the disaffected Inhabitants of this State and died in the British Service) has been improperly sold and converted to the use of some private persons, by which the confiscation laws have been eluded.
You will therefore please to make enquiry into this matter and if the facts be true, you will direct the Commissioners of Confiscated property to seize the same, as also all property of like description embezzled or improperly sold to be returned under the direction of the Law at the future disposal of The General Assembly. And that you direct a report of said Commissioners’ proceedings be made to the Superintending Commissioner of Salisbury District, to be laid before the General Assembly, or the Attorney General as the case may be.
