By his Excellency Alexander Martin, Esqr., Governor, Captain General and Commander in Chief in and over the said State.
Whereas, the1 Proclamation hereunto subjoined, hath been transmitted to me by the Secretary of Congress, containing the Definitive Articles of Peace and Friendship ratified between his Britannic Majesty and the United States of America in Congress assembled: I have thought proper to issue this my Proclamation, announcing the same to all officers civil and military, and other the good citizens of this State; who are hereby required and commanded to pay due obedience thereto, and conduct themselves accordingly.
Given under my Hand and the great Seal of the State, at Danbury the first day of March in the year of our Lord, one thousand Seven hundred and eighty four, and the eighth year of our Independence of the said State.
