Sir:
I have the honor to transmit your Excellency a Resolution of the legislature of this State, that passed at their last Session, which I sincerely wish may have a happy effect.
Resolved, That the Honorable Jabes Bowen, Esquire, and Samuel Ward, Esquire be, and they are hereby appointed Commissioners on the part of this State to meet such commissioners as are or may be appointed by the other States in the Union, at a time and place to be agreed on, to take into Consideration the Trade of the United States, to examine the Relative Situations and Trade of the said States, to Consider how far an uniform System in their Commercial Regulations may be Necessary to their Common Interest and permanent Harmony, and to report to the Several States such an Act relative to this important Object as when unanimously ratified by them, will enable the United States in Congress effectually to provide for the same, and that his Excellency the Governor be requested to send to each of the Supreme Executives of the Several States in the Union a Copy of the foregoing Resolution as soon as may be.
