GOV. SAM. JOHNSTON TO MR. DRUMGOOLE.

You are to proceed to the Cherokee Nation and deliver the Talk and explain to them whatever may appear doubtful and do every thing in your power to confirm in them a confidence in the people of this State. You will then proceed with the Letter to McGilveray the Chief of the Creek Nation and receive his answer which you will be careful to transmit in a reasonable time to Gen. Chas. McDowall at the Quaker Meadows, assure Mr. Gilveray of the high Estimation I hold his Candor & Abilities and of the pleasure I shall take in corresponding with him.
