A LETTER FROM DR. ALEX. GASTON.

New Bern, 17th June, 1778.

Sir:—

The bearers, five of the militia belonging to Capt. Williams’ company down the Neuse, were detained, as they say, for their clothing, and did not arrive in New Bern till Monday, and their clothing came up only last night; and they say they have not got any blankets, and as there is no cart to carry their luggage, they have left their pots, etc., with Mr. Justice, and hope you will be pleased to help them to others in their stead.

I am, sir,
Your very humble servant,
ALEX. GASTON.
