Description | This image shows a detail of the corner of a log structure that was built by John C. Clark in 1881. This is the north corner of the northwest elevation. There is a doorway cut from the structure, which is the opening to the corn crib. There are fairly wide gaps between many of the logs. The roof of the structure appears to be made of wooden shingles. This image was taken at the original site of the structure, near milepost 36.4 in Section 1E of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The building was disassembled and reconstructed at the Humpback Rocks Visitor Center and Mountain Farm, near milepost 5.8 in Section 1B of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This image was taken by C. S. Grossman in September 1952. |
