Description | Image shows the interior of the Ramsey Cabin. This image was taken in the loft space and shows a portion of the loft floor and a portion of the slanted ceiling. A hole is cut in the floor near one wall of the loft, and the top of the ladder that provides access to the loft is visible. A note with the photograph provides detail about the wood used in the roof: rafters - popular [poplar?] poles; shingles - lathe-rived oak; roof boards - rived oak. The image was taken at the Humpback Rocks Visitors Center and Mountain Farm, near milepost 5.8 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin was originally located near milepost 50, near where Section 1F meets Section 1G of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This image was taken by C. S. Grossman and Warren D. Lewis in June 1953. |
