Description | The image shows a window display at N.W. Pugh Department Store celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The display contains ten framed photographs of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a map, a twentieth anniversary poster, a Blue Ridge Parkway sign, and four mannequins in dresses, hats, gloves, and jewelry. There is also an advertisement that reads, "Dark in color / Light in feeling." Photograph was taken by L. Arnberger and Earl Estes on June 28, 1956 in Roanoke, Virgina, which is near milepost 121.4 in section 1N of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The building that held N.W. Pugh Department Store is now called The Hancock. |
