Description The image shows a blooming Virginia spring-beauty (Claytonia virginica) plant surrounded by soil with grass in the background . The plant was found in Roanoke County, Virginia, on the south side of the Roanoke River opposite the Veterans Hospital. The photograph was taken by Myrl Brooks on April 28, 1950. Marked by the National Park Service as being from milepost 125 in section 1N of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Photographer's remarks on photocard: "Abundant at this particular location thus providing a spectacular ground cover when in full bloom."
