The plant was in Roanoke County, Virginia, at Bent Mountain at a cavern-like outcropping of rock along the road. The photograph was taken by Myrl Brooks on May 11, 1950. Photographer's remarks on photocard: "There is a specimen back under the outcropping of rock whose flower measured six inches and which has an overall height of twenty-seven inches." |
