Commentary | "Lynn Nister" (right) is most likely Gilmore Lynn Nisbet, a North Carolina newsman and charter member of the Travel Council of North Carolina. Sam P. Weems (left) was superintendent of the Blue Ridge Parkway from 1944 to 1966. Waterrock Knob is the highest peak in the Plott Balsams range with an elevation of 6,292 feet (1,918 meters.) A hiking trail leads to its summit, where there is a visitors center. |
