Description | Photograph shows an ungraded part of the road near Hare Mill Pond at mile post 225 in section 2A of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by M. A. B. on December 15, 1938. |
Commentary | The Blue Ridge Parkway was designed to complement the countryside that it ran through, with the designers trying to blend road and land as much as they could. After the road itself was built, the surrounding land was graded and landscaped to beautify the Blue Ridge Parkway and ensure that tourists would have as enjoyable of an experience as possible. |
