Date | April 23, 1942 |
Description | This article indicates that work has started again on the Parkway after the war interrupted it briefly (see Waynesville Mountaineer February 19, 1942. It gives a recap of the difficult building conditions due to the natural environment. Three tunnels were being built almost simultaneously and problems were encountered as they were built partly through solid rock. The article also gives an indication of how many men were employed in the project at that time. It does not tell whether those were hired locally or if they came from Colorado with the Lowdermilk Brothers contractor. |
