About this Item
Title | Superintendent's Residence |
Date | July 1959 |
Description | Photograph shows a wooden house surrounded by trees and landscaped areas near Soco Gap at the junction of sections 2X and 2Y of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by Donald H. Robinson in July 1959. |
Commentary | Perhaps because the nearest towns are far from the road on this segment, the Superintendent had his residence outside the nearest urban centers and right in the vicinity of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house looks like it is pretty large in an L-shape, with a nice plot of cleared land around it. Its architecture is that of a wooden cabin, except much larger than a simple mountain cabin. |
