Description | The apple orchard at Altapass as viewed from Jackson Knob. Photo taken by Edward H. Abbuehl on June 1, 1935, Section 2L milepost 327.5-336.4. |
Commentary | The orchard was planted by a worker for the Clinchfield Railroad in 1908. The path of the Blue Ridge Parkway divided the orchard in half, and over time the trees were no longer maintained.
