Commentary | This picture shows the 1977 dedication of the Southern Highland Craft Guild's Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway. At this point in time the Folk Art Center had not been built yet and the event was in dedication to its future home. The Folk Art Center was opened on April 1, 1980 and sits right at milepost 382 near the junction of the Blue Ridge Parkway and US Highway 70. The pictures show several examples of handicrafts and folk art as well as the guest speaker Joan Mondale, Second Lady of the United States, being led by a Park Ranger and greeting guests. |
