Commentary | The date of this photograph is 1956, four years after the completion of section 2Q. The maintenance area was being constructed in order to keep up the local sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway and fix any damages. These were important areas on the Blue Ridge Parkway where signs, vehicles, and equipment could be stored and easily accessed by National Park Service employees. |
