About this Item
Title | Letter from Heriot Clarkson to Francis O. Clarkson |
Date | September 2, 1937 |
Description | Judge Clarkson comments on a letter Francis received from Frank Dunlap. Dunlap's assertion that they should take their case to the courts is called the "hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob" and his attitude is blamed on Charles Ross. |
Commentary | It seems that Judge Clarkson was asked to not be involved in the initial negotiations between Francis, R. Getty Browning and Frank Dunlap at Little Switzerland. Perhaps this was due to Judge Clarkson's tendency toward overstatement, as evidenced in his letters, and Francis ability to be more even-handed. Francis and his law firm partner Carol Taliaferro were able to "guide the boat" by running the pending lawsuit through their office. Box 11. |
