About this Item
Title | Partly Completed Parking |
Date | October 28, 1936 |
Description | Photograph looks northbound at partly completed stone-surfaced pull-off section in section 2A of the Blue Ridge Parkway with a vehicle in the distance. |
Commentary | This picture shows the progress made on the parkway since construction began in 1935. Members of the Civilian Conservation Corp were working tirelessly to get the parkway up and running as soon as possible in order to allow tourists to travel to the area. The sooner visitors were able to travel the parkway, the sooner economic recovery would begin in the areas around the Parkway. |
