About this Item
Title | Icy Rock Curve |
Date | October 31, 1936 |
Description | Photograph shows landscape and road cut into steep rocky slope in section 2C of the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
Commentary | When constructing the road, special consideration had to be paid to the varying weather conditions often experienced in this area. This particular area presented a challenge because of the accumulation of ice often seen on slopes of mountainous roads as well as the sharp curvature in this section of the parkway. This picture is a different angle of the earlier pictures of the Icy Rock Cuts. |
