| Description | Frank Troitino emigrated from Spain to the United States in 1961 and came to work on the Blue Ridge Parkway with his uncle, Joe Troitino. This interview provides a very detailed account of the methods and work involved in stone masonry. Details of wages are also given. Troitino discusses the legacy of his family's work, as it was estimated that his uncle was responsible for at least 75 percent of the stonework on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He touches on the disagreements over directives from the Park Service and problems with funding. Troitino goes on to talk about the work of other Europeans and some of the projects they completed. |
