"The Colonial and State Records of North Carolina" digital collection was made possible by a multi-year grant from the North Carolina State Library through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Special thanks are due to the LSTA grant committee members, Emily Gore, Harry Keiner, Druscilla Simpson, Mary Sizemore, Katherine Wisser, and Helen Wykle, for their advice and guidance during the project. Robert Anthony, Curator of the North Carolina Collection, and Richard Szary, Associate University Librarian for Special Collections, also provided generous financial assistance.

Natalia Smith, head of Documenting the American South, along with Hugh Cayless, led the digital publishing initiative, with colleagues Stephanie Adamson, Joshua Berkov, Caitlin Donnelly, Sarah Ficke, Elizabeth McAulay, Michael Millner, Amanda Page, Janhavi Sheode, and Dongqing Xie.

At the North Carolina Collection, Jason Tomberlin, Special Projects Librarian, and colleague Marilyn Rackley developed the content, establishing extensive metadata for the almost ten thousand documents in the collection and the index.

Valuable assistance was also provided by Dennis Isenbarger, Chris Meekins, and Jan Michael Poff at the North Carolina Office of Archives & History.

Lisa Norberg and Kimberley Vassiliadis, from UNC-Chapel Hill's Library Instructional Services, provided advice on site design and usability. UNC-Chapel Hill Library Cataloguers Wanda Gunther, Kristen Martin, and Celine Noel provided advice on describing the documents.
