North Carolina, Cape Fear August 29th 1754.

My Lords, [of the Board of Trade]

My last of the 3d June informed your Lordships of the Affairs of this Province to that time.

Inclosed is the Laws of last Session how your Lordships will take the Currency Law I cannot say but I am sure I have acted the part of a faithful servant to His Majesty: the Council and Assembly were unanimous in not granting one shilling towards the expedition to the Ohio or to the Fortifications unless I passed the Bill to which I refer you.

We have now in Virginia in His Majesty's service near four hundred men under the command of very good Officers which we subsist but our Fund will not last above three months longer at which time they must return if not subsisted by his Majty or some of the Provinces that have not furnished men.

I have no further to add but am with the greatest submission

My Lords, Yours, &c.,
MATH: ROWAN.
