Sir:
With regard to the transportation of Stores by land and Water for the Southern Army and Supplies of Paper, &c., it will require a Sum not less than five hundred Pounds Specie to effect it. I must, therefore, request that your Excellency will Order me as much Specific Supplies from the Districts of Edenton & New Bern as will amount to that Sum.
I recd. a letter a few days past from Capt. Crump, Asst. D. Q. M. G. So. Army, informing that the Camp is nearly destitute of Paper, and requiring a Supply as early as Possible. He also writes pressingly for a Number of Draught Horses to relieve those in the Army that are unfit for Service, agreeable to a former requisition from
General Greene. I trust your Excellency will consider the Necessity of these Measures & give the Necessary Orders.
P. S.—I shall endeavour to procure a Warrant from General Greene for whatever sum you advance me.
