Title Note | Looking south toward the intersection from a point on the Pky |
Date | December 8, 1949 |
Description | The image shows road signs placed around an intersection between the Blue Ridge Parkway and VA Route 8. At a traffic island toward the right of the image, where a road splits into two directions, a sign shows an arrow pointing right that is labeled "Floyd 6 [miles]" and an arrow pointing left labeled "Stuart 18 [miles]." On another corner of the traffic island there is a stop sign and a post with other direction arrows pointing to different destinations that are not legible. Several other signs appear around the intersection, but their contents are not visible. A wooden fence runs along the right side of the photograph, and trees and mountains appear in the background.
